Who would have thought the world would be captivated by a show with such a dark concept, transforming childhood games into life-or-death scenarios? Squid Game on Netflix came like a rollercoaster, taking us on an intense, wild ride. It took a moment for viewers to fully grasp the show’s gravity, but once hooked, they were all in, eager to see where the journey would lead. As Season 1 ended, curiosity for the second season grew rapidly, and Netflix soon confirmed its return. Now, with only a few months until Squid Game Season 2 releases, fans are buzzing with questions. The biggest one remains: What happens to Gi-hun?

Gi-hun Becomes The Front Man?

The internet is flooded with theories about Gi-hun’s fate and the future of the other recurring characters. One popular theory speculates that Gi-hun was the mastermind behind the game all along, pretending to be a participant while secretly running the show. This theory was debunked long ago, so it holds no weight. Another frequently discussed theory suggests that Gi-hun will become the Front Man in Season 2, taking control of the Squid Game. However, actors Lee Jung-Jae and Lee Byung-Hun recently shut this one down as well. Read on to find out more.

In a Netflix Q&A with the cast of Squid Game, Lee Jung-Jae, along with co-star Lee Byung-Hun, addressed several fan theories circulating about the second season. One particular theory suggested that In-ho (played by Lee Byung-Hun) would become one of the VIPs, and Gi-hun would take over as the Front Man.

Lee Byung-Hun quickly dismissed the idea, calling it imaginative but far from the truth. "This theory is very imaginative, but it is far from the actual story," he said. However, fans should keep in mind that actors in major franchises often have to mislead fans to avoid giving away critical plot details. So, while this theory may be debunked, it doesn’t necessarily mean all secrets are out.

What We Know About Squid Game Season 2

Set three years after the events of the first season, Squid Game Season 2 throws Gi-hun back into the deadly game. The newly released trailer reveals that Gi-hun chose not to go to the States and returns with a new resolve.
