For the past several months, excitement has been building around major projects in the world of cinema, and one of the most highly anticipated is Daredevil: Born Again. This show marks the return of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, a.k.a. Daredevil, after his popular run as the character on Netflix. The show has a lot to handle, and the responsibility is huge. Over the past year, we’ve heard countless rumors, with one of the biggest being about Tom Holland’s possible involvement as Spider-Man. However, there’s now an update that suggests Spider-Man’s involvement in the show may not include Tom at all.
For those unfamiliar, Daredevil: Born Again will continue Matt Murdock’s story following the events of the Netflix series. The show is now part of MCU canon, with a follow-up story streaming on Disney+. It will explore the effects of everything that happened after Cox’s MCU debut in Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, the disappointing news is that Tom Holland will not appear alongside Charlie Cox in this series; Holland is not involved in any capacity.
A new rumor has surfaced claiming that Spider-Man’s involvement in Daredevil: Born Again is limited to a mere mention. According to My Time To Shine Hello, Wilson Fisk is giving a speech after his election as Mayor of New York, urging citizens to stop relying on heroes who "dress as a spider, a devil, or a vigilante with a skull symbol" to save them. This reference may be the only nod to Spider-Man in the entire show. Additionally, there have been no updates about Holland filming any cameos, further lowering the chances of his involvement.

For those new to the show, Daredevil: Born Again aims to build on the legacy of Daredevil from Netflix, while also connecting to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Charlie Cox, who played Matt Murdock in the Netflix series, reprises his role, having already made his MCU debut in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and returning in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Echo. However, Daredevil: Born Again has a lot riding on it, as it becomes the second TV-MA-rated Marvel-Disney show after Echo, setting the tone for a darker and more intense story.
According to ComicBook, Marvel producer Brad Winderbaum discussed how viewers should envision Daredevil: Born Again set in a New York that is as intricate, perilous, and complex as the world of Game of Thrones. Winderbaum explained, "Imagine if New York City was as intricate and problematic and scary as the world of Game of Thrones. All these forces vying for control, and it can be really hopeful at times, and really violent at times, and dark—but also there's light at the end of the tunnel if you can just fight for it."
Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere on Disney+ on March 4, 2025. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more updates on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
