Almost everything about the world of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Sony Spider-Man Universe is iconic, and the fans have kept track of it. From their web-shooters to the canteen scene, to Peter realizing he is Spider-Man, everything is so iconic that you clearly remember every single detail. Out of the three, Andrew Garfield, Tom Holland, and Tobey Maguire, it is the latter who has the biggest recall value for every detail in his trilogy because the first ones are always special.

Sam Raimi introduced Tobey as Peter Parker and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane in 2002 with his first standalone Spidey film, which brought the web-slinging superhero to the live-action world. But while we talk about many things, it is always the iconic kiss that makes it into the conversations. Read on to know everything you should about the same.

Spider-Man Kiss Gets A Twist

Yes, you cannot have any conversation about the 2002 Spider-Man without mentioning the wildly popular kissing scene between MJ and Peter Parker in the movie. The upside-down kiss created waves back in the day, and people were in awe of the two actors, and their chemistry was insanely beautiful. The kiss became a pop culture element and soon made its way to SNL and even The Simpsons. It's been over two decades, and it turns out Marvel has now decided to give the kiss a twist.

It is in Amazing Spider-Man (2022) #53 by Zeb Wells, Todd Nauck, Ed McGuinness, Wade Von Grawbadger, and Marcio Menyz that the kiss from Tobey Maguire-led Spider-Man is given a twist. The comic looks at a Spider-Man possessed by Norman Osborn’s evil, and a rag-tag group that includes Kamala Khan, the Living Brain, Curt Connors, and Rek-Rap are fighting a battle to save the day. In a key scene, unaware of Rek-Rap’s raw might, Green Goblin brushes shoulders with him, and they are now locked in a similar upside-down position.

Rek-Rap, in the situation hanging upside down with Green Goblin, asks him, "Do we both take our masks off at the same time? Who kisses who?" The scene is a hilarious twist to the Spider-Man kiss, and there is no way you are not finding this funny. We hope there is a movie someday that recreates this scene because life would come full circle with it.

Spider-Man (2002) streams on SonyLIV in India, and you can watch it with your OTTplay Premium subscription too. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more information on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
