Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will feature cricketer Shubman Gill's voice as Pavitr Prabhakar, the Indian Spider-Man, in the languages of Punjabi and Hindi. When asked about his time on the mic, the ace cricketer revealed that Spider-Man has been his favourite superhero ever since he was a kid.
Shubman told ETimes that when he was contacted for the job, his reaction was, 'This is great!' since he grew up watching Spider-Man; he was the perfect superhero for the cricketer. He has so many happy memories associated with the first superhero movie he ever saw, which happened to be Spider-Man. When Shubman was a kid, he would come home from school and immediately start climbing the walls to get to the door. His short mom would yell at the top of her lungs for him to get down.
Shubman had no trouble deciding that Tobey Maguire was his favourite Spider-Man actor out of Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland. He remembers, as a child, finding the third instalment of his trilogy to be completely engrossing. The cricketer was told when he got older that it wasn't well received, and it baffled him that reviewers could call it poor when he had so much fun with it.
Shubman also shared his detailed plans for the 2021 release of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Unfortunately, his plans to watch the film while dressed in the classic Spider-Man suit didn't work out. He said that one does not know how badly he wanted to do that for No Way Home. Shubman got the outfit shipped, but it was taking too long to arrive from Australia, so he ended up returning it. There are two people he knows who own the same costume, and they both spent $1500 on it. The cricketer purchased the same suit that was on display. When he saw all those Instagram images of people dressing up as Spider-Man and going to the movies, he suddenly felt very out of the loop.
