Spider-Man 4 rumour round up: Tom Holland starrer goes through change in story and Daredevil: Born Again is to be blamed

The fact that Spider-Man 4 is in the works, with Marvel Studios and Sony eager to begin production and create another box office hit, is no surprise. After all, no one is letting go of a franchise as lucrative as Spider-Man. However, fans were left disappointed when Kevin Feige took center stage at two major events, including San Diego Comic-Con and D23, without providing any updates about the fourth Tom Holland solo film. Many expected the studio to reveal something, but nothing was offered. Still, that hasn't stopped the rumor mills from churning, bringing new updates from the MCU. Read on to know all the latest. 

Spider-Man 4 Undergoes Story Changes

According to the latest reports, the makers of Spider-Man 4 may have realized that their original plans need to be revamped, as the release schedule has shifted significantly over the past year. The story for the movie, which was initially set to feature Kingpin with Peter Parker teaming up with Daredevil to take on Mayor Fisk, is reportedly undergoing a shift. According to Cosmic Circus, "There’s been a story shift for Spider-Man 4. It’s very likely that the storyline with Kingpin might be saved for post-Secret Wars. As for MCU Norman or Otto, not yet. But soon."

This makes sense for a simple reason: Daredevil: Born Again is now scheduled to release in March 2025, which pushes everything related to Matt Murdock further down the timeline. Season two of the show is unlikely to release before Avengers: Secret Wars, meaning the Spider-Man 4 storyline may indeed have to wait until after Secret Wars.

Ned Returns

Excitement for Spider-Man 4 is understandably high, as the movie will take Peter Parker into a new phase of his life. Reports indicate that Peter will now move on to college, with new characters set to be introduced soon. It’s also rumored that Peter will head to ESU and that Ned will return. Meanwhile, Zendaya’s return as MJ is almost a given; fans would likely be unhappy with her absence.

The Black Suit Is Coming

Fans have long been clamoring for the iconic Black Suit to make its MCU debut, and the latest update suggests that Spider-Man may don the black suit for the first time in Avengers: Secret Wars. Additionally, there’s a chance that Miles Morales might finally enter the live-action MCU. "I don’t want to talk too much, but there is an idea regarding Miles before the Multiverse Saga is over. It’s not big, but it’ll be fun...The MCU Miles is still a bit away from showing up,” an insider revealed.

Release Date Speculation

While no official release date has been attached to Spider-Man 4, it's rumored that the film could release on a mystery date between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, likely in July 2026.
