To get noteworthy work in the entertainment industry is hard, admits Shivjyoti Rajput but she adds that the OTTs have made it a tad easier for many actors including her.
The actor, who has done a couple of web shows including Bebaakee and Special Ops 1.5, says that this new medium has been quite impactful in pushing her career in the right direction.
“OTT has broadened the opportunities for artistes. If it is a theatrical commercial project then there is always very limited scope for actors like m. It is a very small group as controlling things.. But now the medium is larger with the advent of OTTs and now artistes have full freedom to experiment with the kind if roles they want to do and what they want to do,” shares Rajput.
She also notes that there is now decrease in the trend of actors getting typecast as the content that is being written for OTTs are diverse and hence people are looking for fresh faces.
“Earlier it was like if you have done hot and glamorous once then you would only get sexy roles and you will be typecast. But today you can break your image with each project. Thanks to the OTTS, there is no longer gun put to our head that if you want to make a career in acting, you will have to follow the same path. We have the right to choose now and not being chosen. We are now able to create our own path because the platform is huge and everyone is getting good opportunity,” she adds.
Rajput is getting a lot of plaudits for her role of a honey trap in Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story, something that she says she didn’t anticipate.
“It is totally unexpected. The role is not an extended part, but the of impact it has had on people is amazing. I can say that even though it was a negative role, it had a positive impact on people,” she ends.
