Starz-hit series Spartacus has confirmed a revival of the series on Thursday. The spinoff is going to be of ten episodes, titled Spartacus: House of Ashur. Yes, the series follows the story of Nick Tarabay’s Ashur, but not as a prequel or POV version. The House of Ashur is going to explore a version of reality in which he had not fallen to Naevia’s blade, and his life had continued.
The official description says, “The series poses the question: What if Ashur hadn’t died on Mount Vesuvius at the end of Spartacus: Vengeance? And what if he had been gifted the gladiator school once owned by Batiatus in return for aiding the Romans in killing Spartacus and putting an end to the slave rebellion?” It is evident from the description and title that the series will focus on the treacherous mercenary Ashur, brilliantly portrayed by original actor Nick Tarabay.
The creator of the series Steven S. DeKnight will be serving as the showrunner and executive producer, for which he is thrilled. “To be afforded the opportunity to return a decade later to a series you loved is such a rare, wonderful opportunity. He concluded his statement by expressing his excitement and gratitude for being able to work with a solid team like Starz, Lionsgate, and of course, the artist, Nick Tarabay.
Kathryn Busby, President of Starz channel, has stated, “A decade ago the groundbreaking original ‘Spartacus’ captivated viewers worldwide and we’re excited to deliver more enthralling, high-octane drama that our fervent fans have been anticipating.” She finished her statement by expressing what an honor it is to team up with DeKnight again as he builds up his storytelling to expand the tenacious limits of the Spartacus-verse.
