Actor Soori, who is expecting the release of his film Garudan, recently opened up about the second part of the upcoming film Viduthalai. Directed by Vetrimaaran, the duology features Soori in the lead role, playing a rookie cop. Soori said that Viduthalai - Part 2 will be grander and bigger on canvas as compared to the first film.
Viduthalai marks Soori's debut as lead actor. In a recent interview on the sidelines of Garudan promotions, Soori said that he is expecting the second part to be released sometime in August or September and added that the shooting for the film is still left. "The film has become bigger and there are many artists in the film, including Manju Warrier mam, Samuthirakani and Kishore. As far as I know, Viduthalai 2 will be thrice bigger and grander than Viduthalai,” he added.
In Viduthalai, Soori plays the role of Kumaresan, a newly-recruited cop put in-charge to capture a revolutionary leader played by Vijay Sethupathi. While the first part had a limited screen space for the latter, the sequel is expected to have more portions featuring Vijay Sethupathi. Apart from them, the film also features Bhavani Sre, Gautham Menon, Rajiv Menon, Chetan and others.
Viduthalai is directed by filmmaker Vetrimaaran, with the second part yet to get a release date. The film has music by Ilaiyaraaja. The first part is currently available for streaming on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium. Viduthalai - Part 1 received positive reception from critics upon its release. Both the parts were screened at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam earlier this year and received a standing ovation.
Meanwhile, Soori’s Garudan is set to release on May 31. The film also stars Sasikumar and Unni Mukundan and is directed by RS Durai Senthilkumar, who has made films like Ethir Neechal, Kodi and served as one of the writers in Viduthalai.
