Soori reacts to standing ovation for Viduthalai 1 and 2 at Rotterdam - 'This is a moving compliment'

Actor Soori is basking in the success and compliments after his highly-awaited movie Viduthalai Part 2 on Thursday made its world premiere at the prestigious International Film Festival Rotterdam.

Cinephiles at the festival were able to watch both Viduthalai part 1 and part 2 in a single stretch as envisioned by director Vetrimaaran. The screening concluded with a prolonged standing ovation, leaving the producers and cast elated.

In response to the honour, Soori expressed his gratitude, stating, "Filmgoers gave a standing ovation to the screening of 'Viduthalai Part 1' and '2' at the Rotterdam International Film Festival in the Netherlands. This is a moving compliment!! Applause continued for a few minutes."

Soori is making significant strides in the new phase of his acting career. Successfully transitioning from playing comedic sidekicks in Tamil films for nearly 15 years, he took on leading roles with Viduthalai Part 1, released last year. The film garnered both critical acclaim and commercial success, marking a triumphant chapter in Soori's evolving career.

When will Viduthalai Part 2 be released?

The success of part 1 has created a lot of anticipation for the second part. With positive word of mouth emerging from its premiere at Rotterdam, it's likely to add to the curiosity around the movie.

Viduthalai is a two-part procedural drama shedding light on the perils of granting excessive power to the police forces without adequate checks to prevent blatant misuse. Soori takes on the role of a principled police officer in Viduthalai, refusing to comply with orders that contradict his moral principles. The film also features Vijay Sethupathi in a pivotal role. While his appearance in Part 1 is brief, he's expected to have a larger role in Part 2.
