Sony LIV announces release date of Jayasurya’s Eesho, here’s when to watch the Nadirshah directorial online

Almost a year after its principal photography, Jayasurya’s Eesho is gearing up for release. OTTplay had previously announced that the movie will be a straight-to-OTT release on Sony LIV and now the streaming platform has announced the release date of the Nadirshah directorial, which also has Namitha Pramod and Jaffer Idukki in pivotal roles.

The film, which is touted to be a thriller, went on floors after the first lockdown and was shot extensively in Kerala and Dubai. The movie was mostly shot during the night. Incidentally, it’s also Nadirshah’s first thriller.

In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Jayasurya had said that the movie will stand apart from the director’s previous films, which were all entertainers. Suneesh Varanad, who had previously written Manju Warrier and Indrajith Sukumaran-starrer Mohanlal, has scripted Eesho.

Eesho, which also has Johnny Antony and Suresh Krishna, was always planned as an OTT release. The major shoot locations of the film included Mundakayam, Kuttikanam, Peerumade, Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam.

Sony LIV has announced that the film will be a pooja release and will drop on the streaming platform on October 5 in five languages – Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. Roby Varghese, who had previously worked with Jayasurya in films such as John Luther, Captain and Vellam: The Essential Drink, has cranked the camera for Eesho as well.

The upcoming movie marks Jayasurya’s second direct-to-OTT release after Ranjith Sankar’s Sunny, which dropped on Amazon Prime Video last year. Nadirshah too had an earlier direct OTT release with Dileep’s Kesu Ee Veedinte Nadhan, which is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

Sony LIV has been the frontrunner in terms of direct Malayalam OTT releases of late with movies such as Sundari Gardens, Avasavyuham, Paka, Innale Vare and Anthakshari being the recent releases. The streaming service is also currently in discussions to produce original Malayalam web series soon.
