Sonakshi Sinha has left the bleak world of Dahaad for the bright and opulent world of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi, which chronicles the narrative of courtesans in pre-independence India. She says that's the joy of the acting profession. The actor smiles as she adapts to a new encounter on the set of her second web series, proving her point that one can be a new person every day.
In addition to Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Shaikh, and Sharmin Segal, Bhansali will also make his debut in the digital realm with this Netflix series. The director is under intense scrutiny as he introduces his trademark lavishness to a digital service. Sonakshi knows she's lucky to be a Bhansali heroine because the director often casts his leading ladies in parts written specifically for them.
During an interaction with Mid Day, when asked how things are going with the unconventional director, Sonakshi said that working with Sanjay is like witnessing a miracle. Nothing but he can accomplish that. She thinks he's one of those directors who can get amazing performances out of even the most average performers, and it's an honour to follow his guidance.
Bhansali cast Sonakshi opposite Akshay Kumar in his 2012 film Rowdy Rathore, marking their first collaboration. The actor and director have made numerous attempts to get back together over the past 11 years but to no avail. Finally, she argues that the director can nurture his actors in a manner that few others can because she is a part of his vision with Heeramandi.
They have been trying to work together ever since Rowdy Rathore, but it hasn't worked out. He has consistently been an upbeat presence. The way Bhansali encourages Sonakshi about her acting and appearance even on set is inspiring. He thinks she is a true Indian beauty, and to have someone of his stature speak so highly of her motivates her to do better in her work.
