American rapper Snoop Dogg is now part of Jamie Foxx’s upcoming Netflix film titled Day Shift. The movie is touted to be a vampire thriller-comedy that has Foxx playing the role of a vampire hunter.
Day Shift marks the directorial debut of JJ Perry, who was the second-unit director and stunt coordinator for movies like The Fate of the Furious, Bloodshot and the John Wick franchise. Interestingly, Perry and Foxx had earlier worked together in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained nine years ago.
The film’s story revolves around Foxx’s character who just wants a good life for his eight-year-old daughter. By day, he works a San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job and by night, he ostensibly takes up his silver bullets and katanas to kill blood-thirsty vampires.
The film also stars Scott Adkins, Meaghan Good, Karla Souza, Eric Lange and Zion Broadnax in pivotal roles. It is expected to release on the streaming platform in 2022. Filmmaker Chad Stahelski, who helmed the John Wick movies, is co-producing the movie along with Jason Spitz from 87Eleven Entertainment.
Coincidentally, Shay Heten, who has co-written the script of Day Shift, is also associated with the upcoming Zack Snyder film Army Of The Dead, which will release on Netflix in May. The movie, which also has Bollywood actress Huma Qureshi and Dave Bautista, revolves around zombies.
