Sky Force Box Office: Amid a pool of movies currently on the big screen, Sky Force has managed to emerge as a winner. The film, touted to have a good start, achieved a great opening weekend despite competition from Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency and Ajay Devgn’s Azaad, which are still in theaters. While this marks a great feat for debutant Veer Pahariya, it has also served as a revival point for Akshay Kumar. The superstar, known for his box office hits, has been experiencing a drought for the past two years, with no notable hits, making Sky Force his redemption. Read on to know more.

Akshay Kumar’s Box Office Run Revived

Since the world returned to normalcy post-pandemic, Akshay Kumar has starred in over 10 movies, including prominent ones like Sarfira, Sooryavanshi, Khel Khel Mein, Singham Again, Bachchhan Pandey, Bell Bottom, and more. However, apart from a couple of them, none managed to make a significant impact. Now, with Sky Force, the actor has finally found redemption. The film, with an opening of over Rs 70 crore, has become his third-biggest opening post-pandemic.

The only two films Sky Force could not surpass were Sooryavanshi's day-one collection of Rs 26.29 crore and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan's Rs 16.07 crore. Sky Force opened at Rs 15.3 crore. However, while Bade Miyan Chote Miyan quickly faced a sharp decline, Sky Force remains strong at the box office.

With pre-sales reaching 150K, Sky Force surpassed the pre-sales of Akshay’s last five movies, including OMG 2 (90K), Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (65K), Khel Khel Mein (29K), Mission Raniganj (11K), and Sarfira (10K).

Sky Force Box Office Prediction

At this point, Sky Force has become a boon for its cast as the film earned over Rs 70 crore at the Indian box office during its opening weekend. On its first day, it collected Rs 12.25 crore, slightly below the average for a film of its size. However, Saturday witnessed an incredible 80% rise, minting Rs 22 crore, more than compensating for the initial delay. By the end of the weekend, the film had amassed a domestic net total of Rs 61.75 crore, as reported by Sacnilk, with an additional Rs 27.50 crore earned on Sunday.

The film now enters its first Monday, a crucial day that will serve as a litmus test for its sustainability. Released on January 24, Sky Force benefited from the January 26 public holiday for Republic Day, which fell on a Sunday—a factor that could be seen as both an advantage and a limitation. The question remains whether the film can maintain its momentum during the weekdays.

Current predictions suggest the film is set to witness its first drop today, with collections likely to range between Rs 10-15 crore. Even with this decline, the film’s performance would still be commendable compared to recent releases, except for Pushpa 2: The Rule. Only time will tell if Sky Force continues to soar or begins to plateau.

Sky Force was released on January 24, 2025. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more updates on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
