Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan's highly anticipated project with director AR Murugadoss, which is tentatively titled SK 23 , went on the floors on Wednesday. The film was launched in Chennai following a customary puja with the main cast and crew in attendance.
The filmmakers will soon start the regular shooting. While Rukmini Vasanth will play the lead role, composer Anirudh Ravichander will score the music for the movie. An official announcement about the project, along with the details of the remaining cast and crew is expected soon.
"I’m extremely delighted to join you for my 23rd film and I'm double delighted after listening to your narration. This film is going to be very special for me in all aspects and I can’t wait to start filming. Thank you so much sir," said Sivakarthikeyan earlier, while expressing his gratitude to Murugadoss for casting him in the movie.
This collaboration with Murugadoss is a testament to Sivakarthikeyan's increasing influence in the Tamil film industry, solidifying his position as a 'mass hero' with each film and presenting formidable competition to the likes of Dhanush.
It's worth noting that his recent film Ayalaan outperformed Dhanush's Captain Miller at the box office. Despite mixed reviews from critics, Ayalaan exceeded expectations, while Captain Miller, despite critical acclaim, struggled at the box office.
Sivakarthikeyan is now waiting for the release of his next movie, temporarily titled SK 21 . Bankrolled by Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan under his own production banner, Raaj Kamal Films International, the film is written and directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy.
SK 21 is based on the non-fiction book India’s Most Fearless: True Stories Of Modern Military Heroes, depicting real-life challenges faced by Indian soldiers. However, an official confirmation on the same is awaited.
Besides Sivakarthikeyan, the film also features Sai Pallavi, Rahul Bose, and Lallu in pivotal roles.
