‘James Bond’ Franchise Not Yet Ready for Modernization, Says Producer Barbara Broccoli

Producer Barbara Broccoli revealed in a recent interview with The Guardian that the James Bond franchise has "not even begun" to modernise and that there's a "big road ahead" before the iconic character is reinvented for the next chapter. Broccoli praised Daniel Craig for allowing them to explore the emotional life of the character, emphasising the need to focus on what a 21st-century hero would look like. She also highlighted that the character of James Bond is a product of the times and has endured through different historical eras. While a new Bond film may still be in the distant future, the franchise is making its first foray into unscripted TV with 007 Road to a Million, hosted by Brian Cox. The series will feature contestants navigating challenges set in Bond-related locations. However, Broccoli clarified that their primary focus remains on making feature films for the big theatrical screen, and they have not ventured into other Bond TV spin-offs as of now.
