Madhubala biopic to be helmed by ‘Darlings’ director Jasmeet K Reen

Jasmeet K Reen, who is best known for helming the Alia Bhatt dark comedy Darlings, has announced her next. Reen will take on the responsibility of directing a biopic on the iconic Indian actress Madhubala. Reen will also serve as the film’s writer, and the makers are currently in the process of finding the right actress to slip into Madhubala’s role. Going by the star’s fandom across the country, doing any justice to the role would require tremendous talent and any actress who rises to the challenge will have big shoes to fill. The film is set to begin production in 2024 and it will be produced by Madhubala Ventures Private Limited and Madhubala’s youngest sister, Madhur Brij Bhushan.

Aamir Khan to make a cameo in ‘Lahore, 1947’, starring Sunny Deol

It was announced earlier that Bollywood star Aamir Khan is serving as the producer for the upcoming Sunny Deol film Lahore, 1947. The film is helmed by multiple National Award-winning veteran filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi. New reports now claim that Khan will make a crucial guest appearance in the film in a character which would be pivotal to the story. Further details surrounding the project have been kept under wraps.

Hansal Mehta’s TV show on Mahatma Gandhi starring Pratik Gandhi to begin filming

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta is set to reunite with Pratik Gandhi after the success of Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. The duo also worked together for the anthology Modern Love: Mumbai and will reportedly collaborate for an upcoming TV show on Mahatma Gandhi. The upcoming series will be based on Ramachandra Guha’s books Gandhi Before India and Gandhi: The Years That Changed The World. The series will begin production soon and coincidently Pratik Gandhi has played the role of Mahatma Gandhi in the Gujarati play Mohan No Masalo.

Karishma Tanna wins Best Actress at Busan Film Festival

Indian actress Karishma Tanna has won Best Lead Actress at the Busan International Film Festival for her lead role in Hansal Mehta‘s Netflix series Scoop. The crime drama series is based on journalist Jigna Vora’s memoir Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison. Mehta’s series also bagged the award for Best Asian TV series. The Korean superhero drama series Moving, which is available to stream on Disney+Hotstar, took home six awards at the ceremony, including Best Creative and Best Writing.

‘Barbie’ director Gret Gerwig teases new project

Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig, has grossed over $1.4 billion at the global box office, making it the biggest release of 2023. In a recent interview at the BFI London Film Festival, Gerwig revealed that she used to hide at the back during screenings to gauge audience reactions. She also revealed that she is currently working on an untitled secret project which is currently in the scripting stage. She refused to divulge further information about the upcoming project.

'The Kardashians' producer provides update on whether Timothée Chalamet will appear in season 4

After reports emerged that Hollywood star Timothée Chalamet is dating Kylie Jenner, there has been plenty of speculation about whether the acclaimed actor will appear on the fourth season of The Kardashians. However, producer Ben Winston has shut down rumours of Chalamet making an appearance in the hit reality series. He has also confirmed that Kylie’s older sister Kendall, and her relationship with Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny will also not be explored in the upcoming season. The reality show that follows the highs and lows in the life of America’s first reality TV family has forever delved into the private lives of the Kardashians and Jenners. So this update will surely disappoint fans of the franchise. The Kardashians is available to stream on Disney+ Hotstar in India.
