‘Dream Girl 2’ starring Ayushmann Khurrana releases first trailer
Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana is set to star in the comedy film Dream Girl 2. The first trailer for the Raaj Shaandilyaa directorial was released on YouTube and features Khurrana alongside co-star Ananya Panday and focuses on the hilarious and quirky exchanges between the pair. The film is bankrolled by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, and it also stars Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Annu Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, and Manjot Singh among others in supporting roles. Dream Girl 2 is scheduled to release on August 25.
‘Gadar 2’ asked to make several cuts by CBFC
The highly anticipated Sunny Deol film Gadar 2 is the latest film to come under scrutiny from the censor board after Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2. The filmmakers were reportedly asked to make 10 cuts before it was granted a UA certification. Some of these cuts included changes to dialogues and even a few words such as ‘bastard’ was changed to ‘idiot’. The new runtime of the film is currently at 2 hours and 50 minutes according to trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Gadar 2 will release in theatres on August 11.
‘Unsung Hero’ lands on Lionsgate
Joel Smallbone, who is best known for being one-half of the Christian music duo For King + Country, is set to make his feature film directorial debut. The film will pivot around the Smallbone family, including Joel and his sibling Luke as well as singer-songwriter Rebecca St. James. And it will also focus on the family's journey from Australia to the US after the closure of their father’s once-thriving music company. Titled, Unsung Hero, the Kingdom Story Company production will be distributed by Lionsgate after the studio purchased the rights. Unsung Hero is slated to release on April 26, 2024.
Netflix announces ‘Disenchantment’ to end with fifth season
Disenchantment, the popular animated series helmed by Matt Groening, is set to return for its fifth season next month. It will feature 10 episodes and Netflix also announced that it will be the show’s final season. Disenchantment is set in the collapsing medieval kingdom called Dreamland, and the series is Groening’s first animated comedy since helming iconic shows such as The Simpsons and Futurama, with the latter releasing its eighth season in July. Disenchantment Season 5 will premiere on September 1st on Netflix.
Emma Corrin cast in Deadpool 3 as the villain
Emma Corrin, who is best known for essaying the role of Princess Diana in the hit Netflix series The Crown, has been cast in Deadpool 3. The British star will play the role of the villain, with Succession star Matthew Macfadyen also cast in an undisclosed role. The Shawn Levy directorial stars Ryan Reynolds in the lead, reprising his role as the titular character with Hugh Jackman also reprising his role as Wolverine from the X-Men films. Morena Baccarin and Brianna Hildebrand also return for the third film with Jennifer Garner set to reprise her role as Elektra Natchios from the 2003 film Daredevil. Deadpool 3 is scheduled to hit theatres on May 3, 2024.
'The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar' directed by Wes Anderson announces release date
Hollywood filmmaker Wes Anderson has announced the release date of his next project titled, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar. The film is based on Roald Dahl's short stories and will be an anthology of four parts with a total runtime of just 37 minutes. The film features a stellar cast including Benedict Cumberbatch, Ralph Fiennes, Dev Patel, Ben Kingsley, Rupert Friend, Asa Jennings, and Richard Ayoade. The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar will premiere at the Venice Film Festival before releasing on Netflix on October 13.
