Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi-starrer Amaran, which released for Diwali this October, has been having a fantastic run so far in theatres. The film is said to have collected over Rs 300 crore at the box office and solidified Sivakarthikeyan’s position as a leading big-league star. However, there is one aspect that the netizens are disappointed with the Amaran team. After some of the success posters released by the makers, the absence of Sai Pallavi on has stirred some debate on social media. However, it is also to be noted that Raaj Kamal Films International has also released a few posters with the female lead’s presence.
Undoubtedly, Amaran is one of the most successful star movies this year, headlined by Sivakarthikeyan, with Sai Pallavi playing the female lead. The film is a biopic of the late Major Mukund Varadarajan and Sai Pallavi plays his wife Indhu Rebecca Varghese.
Amaran opened to positive reviews and went on to collect Rs 300 crore at the box office. With the film celebrating it on social media, a section of netizens have observed that some of the posters miss Sai Pallavi’s character, and are calling out for the erasure of her presence in the film.
Singer and voice artiste Chinmayi was one among them to voice the issue. “One of the most talented and beloved female artists in the South will still not find space in a success poster, shoulder to shoulder with a man. Rowdy Baby was what it was also because of the trippy vocals of Dhee. Anyway,” she wrote. Check out the other social media reactions here.
Netflix has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film. Recently, the Tamil Nadu exhibitors had requested the producers of Amaran to extend the OTT release date by eight weeks, as the film is having a successful run at the theatres.
