Rashmika Mandanna was one of the many surprising additions to the star-studded cast of director Hanu Raghavapudi's next, Sita Ramam, headlined by Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur. The film, which has music by Vishal Chandrasekhar, is bankrolled by Ashwini Dutt under Swapna Cinema and presented by Vyjayanthi Movies. Set amid the war-backdrop in 1965, the period romance is set to hit theatres on August 5.

In the film, Rashmika is cast as Afreen, a Kashmiri girl who is a crucial link to the love story of Lieutenant Ram and Sita Mahalakshmi. A special poster of Rashmika, commemorating Eid-al-Adha, was launched today. In a hijab-clad avatar, Rashmika Mandanna extends festive greetings to viewers. A media statement released by the makers reiterates that the actress has an extremely meaty role to play that will alter the course of the narrative.
