Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai | Manoj Bajpayee: I choose my script and directors very carefully | Exclusive

'Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai,' a Zee Studios production, is hailed as one of the biggest legal courtroom dramas of the year. The movie, directed by Apoorv Singh Karki and based on real-life events, follows high court attorney PC Solanki as he takes on the nation's most powerful godman in a case involving the POCSO Act and extraordinary circumstances.

Recently, the actor got in an exclusive conversation with OTTplay where he discussed working with a debutant director, his journey in the industry and much more!

Manoj Bajpayee is one of the rare actors about whom I don’t remember reading a review or an article where I did not see a writer writing that ‘Manoj Bajpayee was the perfect fit for the role’ or ‘Nobody could do it better than Manoj Bajpayee’ or ‘Manoj Bajpayee steals the show.’ 

When asked the actor about the same that when he reads such compliments for himself, besides the fact that this is so amazing it can also become a little overwhelming but is it reassuring or it create pressure? He said, "There is no pressure, rather, there is a happiness that job is well done. Wen you are making a film, you know this is a very collaborative medium. Somewhere, each and every department have to put their best foot forward. Even when our job is over, then there's editors, post-production team working on it tirelessly. For that reason, I don't shy away in taking any credits. I feel happy for the entire team. An actor witnesses the hard work that is going around, just to make this space so right and ready so that the actor can come and perform. The effort that all the department puts into it, it becomes the matter of celebration." 

Talking about working with a debutant director Apoorv Singh Karki, the Gangs Of Wasseypur actor said, "I keep telling Apoorv, please work with actors, don't compromise on your choice of casting and just be like this till you say goodbye to this profession. That's the only key, the work as to be exciting. I have spent so many years in the industry, yes I get a lot of respect and love and admiration but there is also a fact that I choose my script and directors very carefully. So that give me reasons to wake up at 4 in the morning and rush to the sets. So just choose wisely."

Starring Manoj Bajpayee, the intense courtroom drama, Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai, is directed by Apoorv Singh Karki. It is a Zee Studios and Bhanushali Studios Limited production. Producing the Zee5 Original movie are Vinod Bhanushali, Kamlesh Bhanushali, Asif Sheikh, and Vishal Gurnani. Juhi Parekh Mehta serves as a co-producer.

The film premieres on May 23 on Zee5.
