The much-anticipated third instalment of the Rohit Shetty-directed action film Singham, starring Ajay Devgn and Deepika Padukone, gets an official release date. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his Twitter handle on Saturday to make the announcement. While shooting for Singham Again will begin in August this year, the movie is slated to release on Independence Day in 2024.
Taran tweeted, “#Xclusiv… AJAY DEVGN - ROHIT SHETTY: ‘SINGHAM AGAIN’ ON INDEPENDENCE DAY 2024… #SinghamAgain - the third part in #RohitShetty’s super-successful #Singham franchise - to release on 15 August 2024 #IndependenceDay. #AjayDevgn returns as #BajiraoSingham… Starts August 2023”.
In December last year, it was announced that Pathaan star Deepika will join the cast of Singham Again, as a gritty police officer. This also makes Deepika the first lady cop of Rohit’s Cop Universe.
Released in 2011, Singham was a remake of Hari-directed 2010 Tamil film by the same name. The movie starred Ajay (as as Bajirao Singham), Kajal Aggarwal and Prakash Raj. The sequel to the action entertainer, titled Singham Returns, released in 2014. This instalment was inspired by the 1993 Malayalam neo-noir action thriller film Ekalavyan, directed by Shaji Kailas. Ajay reprised his role in it, while the film also featured Ajay and Kareena Kapoor as a lead character, along with Amole Gupte, Anupam Kher, Sonalee Kulkarni, Govind Namdev and Pankaj Tripathi.
Meanwhile, after the success of his recent directorial venture Bholaa, Ajay is collaborating with Tabu once again in writer-director Neeraj Pandey’s upcoming musical love story Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha! Music for the film is composed by Oscar winner MM Keeravani, while it also features Jimmy Shergill, Saiee Manjrekar and Shantanu Maheshwari. The actor will also be seen in director Amit Sharma’s biographical sports drama Maidaan, opposite Priyamani.
