Singapore Saloon trailer - R J Balaji plays aspiring ‘hairstylist’ in this underwhelming glimpse, but THIS director makes cameo appearance

Ace comedian and actor R J Balaji’s trailer from his upcoming film Singapore Saloon has just dropped! Directed by Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara-fame director Gokul, the movie stars R J Balaji, Lal, and Nasser, and revolves around a young ambitious hairstylist in Singapore and how things change when he opens a salon business.  

The new trailer begins with actor Lal, who is a barber, inspiring his son R J Balaji’s character to become a professional hairstylist. The video also showcases the actor rejecting his college placement offers to pursue his dreams of opening a salon. The trailer then features RJ Balaji’s character opening a salon in Singapore, naming it ‘Singapore Saloon’. As he continues his ambitious business, he faces hurdles from competitors who are on a mission to take down his salon which is apparently affecting their business. How the character overcomes the challenges forms the rest of the story.

Although the film features a promising cast and crew, and hints at a heartwarming storyline, the trailer, at first glance, was not very impressive as some of the portions felt cliche with the usual sentimental plotline. However, with RJ Balaji and other talented crew on board, the film definitely promises to be an entertainer, providing humour and quality content. Nonetheless, fans seem to have liked the upcoming film’s glimpse, who are hailing the comedian-turned-actor for choosing interesting roles. The actor’s comedic timing is surely not to be missed!

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj makes cameo appearance in Singapore Saloon

Directed by Gokul, the upcoming film is touted to be a dramedy and will feature Leo director Lokesh Kanagaraj in a cameo appearance. The director also appears in the trailer video. It is speculated that the director will appear as one of the clients of R J Baalaji’s character in his salon. Speaking about Lokesh’s cameo, director Gokul had earlier revealed that Lokesh will be playing a celebrity in the film. “The reason we chose Lokesh is because he had launched many artists who became great stars,” the director elaborated. He added that apart from Lokesh, another star has also done a cameo. If our guesses are right, the other celebrity must be actor Jiiva who is also featured in the trailer.  

Besides the lead cast, the film also features Meenakshi Chaudhary Shivani Rajashekar, Kishen Das and Ann Sheetal in key roles. The film is officially set to have a theatrical release on January 25, coinciding with the Republic Day weekend.
