Silo, the post-apocalyptic sci-fi show based on Hugh Howey’s series of novels, is returning for a second season. The Rebecca Ferguson-led show, which premiered on Apple TV+ in May 2023, was renewed for a second season that now has a streaming update. Silo Season 2 will return to the streamer on November 15, with a 10-episode run. It is expected that Season 2 will kick off with 2 episodes, followed by weekly drops.
Silo is set in a dystopian future, where the last of mankind lives in an underground bunker that extends to 144 levels, with strict class hierarchies in place. The residents of the Silo are also bound by strict rules, which protect them from the toxic surface of the planet. Those not in compliance, are sent out to clean the screen that gives those in the Silo a view of the outside, where they will then eventually perish.
Ferguson plays Juliette Nichols, a brilliant engineer working on the Silo’s generators, who gets promoted to Sheriff and uncovers secrets that those governing it are desperate to keep hidden from the general populace. What is this damning information and why is it imperative that they remain secret?
Season 2 is likely to shed more information on this, given that Juliette has been banished to the outside world to clean. Is the planet really toxic and uninhabitable or have the powers that be in the Silo been lying to the people.
Silo also stars Tim Robbins, Common, Harriet Walter, Avi Nash, Shane McRae, Chinaza Uche, among others, with Steve Zahn announced as a new addition to the mix. He is expected to be the big baddie of Season 2, whom Ferguson meets at one of the other Silos she comes across in the outside world.
