Actors Jayam Ravi and Dulquer Salmaan exited Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan's upcoming project Thug Life. Now, Silambarasan is set to replace Dulquer Salmaan in Thug Life, as per reports.

We have earlier reported that the cast of Mani Ratnam and Kamal Haasan's upcoming project Thug Life has been shrinking after actors Jayam Ravi and Dulquer Salmaan exited the film. Now as per reports, actor Silambarasan is set to replace Dulquer Salmaan in Thug Life. However, an official confirmation on the same is yet to be made by the makers.
As per a report by DT Next, Silambarasan will be replacing Dulquer Salmaan in Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam. Thug Life is one of the most anticipated projects from the Tamil film industry and will mark Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam's collaboration after 37 years since the release of the 1987 gangster film Nayakan.

Though the makers of the film initially announced that Dulquer Salmaan was part of the cast, it is said that the actor dropped out of the project after he was unable to schedule his dates for Thug Life. Now, as per the report, Silambarasan will be stepping into his shoes and will play a part in Thug Life. The official announcement is set to be made soon with the actor joining the sets in April. It is to be noted that Silambarasan earlier worked with Mani Ratnam in Chekka Chivantha Vaanam. However, it will mark the first time Silambarasan will be sharing screen space with Kamal Haasan.
Silambarasan had also announced that his 48th film, tentatively titled STR 48, will be backed by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International. While the film's pre-production works are ongoing, it is said that the film will go on floors next year only. STR 48 is directed by filmmaker Desingh Periyasamy.

The banner is currently producing Sivakarthikeyan's Amaran and co-producing Thug Life along with Madras Talkies. STR 48 is expected to begin only after the banner finishes the other two projects.
