We had earlier reported that actor-director Pradeep Ranganthan will be starring in the upcoming Tamil film directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. Tentatively called AGS 26 or Pradeep-Ashwath combo, the project is bankrolled by AGS Entertainment.
While the film's collaboration gets us exciting, Ashwath took to social media to share how Silambarasan loved his debut film Oh My Kadavule and had called him to appreciate the film at the time of its release.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ashwath said Silambarasan was the first person to call him after watching Oh My Kadavule and talked about the film for one and a half hours. He also clarified that his project with Pradeep Ranganathan is not the one he had written for Silambarasan in addition to mentioning how the latter called Ashwath and appreciated the announcement video.
“I would like to clarify that the script I had for him is different and we ll go ahead when he is ready,” he added. This puts all the rumours to rest that Ashwath’s film with Pradeep is different from the one he wrote for Silambarasan. It marks the first time Pradeep and Ashwath are collaborating.
Oh My Kadavule is a 2020 Tamil romantic fantasy comedy film starring actors Ashok Selvan, Ritika Singh, Vani Bhojan, MS Bhaskar, Vijay Sethupathi and others. The film marks the director's debut and revolves around two best friends who get married only to learn that they are incompatible. The rest of the film deals with a divine intervention that makes them wonder if they are right for each other.
The film, which is streaming on ZEE5 and available on OTTplay Premium, was remade in Telugu as Ori Devuda, starring Vishwak Sen and Mithila Palkar and is available on Aha Telugu. The Kannada remake of the film is titled Luky Man. Oh My Kadavule opened to positive reception upon its release.
