We had recently reported that actor Silambarasan aka Simbu has started dubbing for his film Thug Life in which he will be starring alongside Kamal Haasan, directed by Mani Ratnam. It is also a known news that Simbu will be joining hands with Malayalam director Jude Anthany Joseph who made the commercially successful 2018. Now as per the latest buzz, the film is soon to go on floors this year.

Actor Simbu who stepped into Thug Life after actor Dulquer Salmaan quit, will be finishing his portions for the film soon. Silambarasan will be soon collaborating with director Jude Anthany Joseph for a film which is said to be made on a big budget, as per the latest buzz.

The film, which is yet to be officially announced, is set to go on floors sometime in September. It is only after finishing this project, Simbu will be moving on to STR 48, which has been announced with director Desingh Periyasamy. STR 48 is said to go on floors next year.

The upcoming film will mark the first time Jude will be working in Tamil and with Simbu. Further details on the film, like the cast and crew, plot, have not yet been revealed.

2018 is 2023 survival thriller film which is based on the 2018 Kerala floods that ravaged the state. The film features a star ensemble, including actors Kunchacko Boban, Tovino Thomas, Asif Ali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Narain, Aparna Balamurali, Kalaiyarasan and Lal among others. The film is available for streaming on SonyLIV and OTTplay Premium as well.

2018 became one of the highest grossing Malayalam films and was selected as India's official submission for the Academy Awards, although it did not make to the final round of selection. Akhil P. Dharmajan and Jude wrote the screenplay for 2018.
