In his career spanning nearly four decades and over 110 films, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan reckons he’s dabbled with pretty much every genre in filmmaking. While playing an antagonist is out of the question for the Sikandar actor, he’s also not done a biopic yet, as well as a superhero film . As far as superhero films go, Salman says that he doesn’t necessarily have to wear a cape to bust villains, given the kind of cinema that’s made in India.
Speaking to India Today as part of the promotions of Sikandar, Salman said, “The kind of films and roles that we do, we don’t really have to wear a cape to be superheroes. All our Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Punjabi, Bengali films – every film industry, the hero is a superhero without wearing a cape. Every protector is a superhero,” he explains.
During the conversation, Salman also addressed the ‘gossip’ surrounding his working style. “There are stories that I come late to the set and that I am not serious about my work, etc. I have 100+ films, more than anybody else, apart from some senior actors. It is not possible to do this kind of work if you are coming late and leaving early,” he said.
Having said that, Salman admitted that his discipline involves him coming to work closer to noon and here’s why, “Someone may start at 6 in the morning, I start by 12 noon. I’ve got a lot of other work to attend to prior to that – like signing important documents, attending phone calls, working out, etc., and then, when you come to the set, you relax, have a coffee and understand the scene. After that, I don’t even go back to the vanity van. Wherever they put the tent for the video village, I am there,” he adds.
