Earlier today, Kannada actor Kiccha Sudeep revealed the teaser of Chikku, the Kannada dubbed version of actor Siddharth’s next, Chithha, which is releasing in theatres on September 28. Welcoming Siddharth into the Kannada industry, Sudeep said he was thrilled that the former had dubbed for himself in the Kannada version. “Introducing my dear brother and buddy #siddharth to my kannada audiences, and more thrilled about him having dubbed for himself. Welcome to KFI my friend and my heartiest wshs,” wrote Sudeep.

Netizens have been highly appreciative of the fact that Siddarth took the trouble of dubbing in his voice for the Kannada version, with many stating that they will watch the film in theatres for this reason. But the question that remains is as to how wide a release this version will get. Chikku is being released by KRG Studios, which has, in the past, taken great pains in ensuring that good quality Kannada dubbing is done and that said version gets ample number of screens/shows, like, for instance, Adipurush. While the distributor will make the effort, no doubt, the problem is that September 28 is an overcrowded release week, now that Salaar Ceasefire is out of the picture.

Chithha/Chikku will be in competition with Fukrey 3, Chandramukhi 2, The Vaccine War, Iraivan, Skanda, Kannur Squad, Parking, MAD and Baanadariyalli. KRG Studios is also distributing Golden Star Ganesh’s Baanadariyalli, which will have to get the better deal at the box office. Chithha/Chikku has been produced by Siddharth’s Etaki Entertainment and follows the relationship between an uncle and his niece and the lengths to which he will go to keep her safe. Karthik Gowda of KRG Studios described the film as a hard-hitting kidnap thriller that will have audiences invested in the narrative from start to finish.
