Deekay, who made his directorial debut with the successful horror-comedy Yamirukka Bayamen (streaming on Zee5), was in the news some time ago for his project Karungaapiyam, starring Kajal Aggarwal, Regina Cassandra, Raiza Wilson, Noyrika Bhatheja and Janani in lead roles. A source now says that the filmmaker is all set to join hands with Shruti Haasan.

Though an official confirmation is awaited, we hear that the untitled project will go on floors in a few months' time. Shruti, who will headline the movie, is said to be playing a character which she has never essayed in her career till date.

The official announcement which is expected to happen soon will reveal the other cast and crew details of the film as well. If everything goes well, the duo will come up with an update next month. Shruti, who was last seen in SP Jananathan's Laabam (streaming on Netflix), is busy with Prabhas' Salaar.

Tollywood film NBK107 (tentative title), starring Balakrishna in the lead, is another movie she is currently shooting for. Besides, she has Chiranjeevi's much-awaited Mega 154 (tentative title) which is slated for a theatrical release in January 2023.

A few musical projects are also keeping the actress-singer busy these days. She was part of two OTT projects during the pandemic era, Putham Pudhu Kaalai (streaming on Amazon Prime Video) in Tamil and Pitta Kathalu (streaming on Netflix) in Telugu.

On the other hand, movie buffs are awaiting an update from Deekay on Karungaapiyam. The first look featuring all the actors was unveiled last year, and makers had released a few working stills of Kajal Aggarwal as well. Billed as a horror movie set in different time periods, the movie marks the second collaboration of Kajal and Deekay after Kavalai Vendam (streaming on Amazon Prime Video).
