Actor Shriya Saran, who was last seen in the 2024 Hindi TV series Showtime, has come onboard Suriya 44 and will be appearing in a dance number for the film. Directed by filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj, Suriya 44 stars Suriya in the lead role with the shooting underway.

We had earlier reported that actor Suriya will be teaming up with filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj for a film which is tentatively called Suriya 44.
Now as per the latest buzz, actor Shriya Saran will be seen in a special dance number. Her portions of the shoot took place in Ooty, with the filming underway for the rest of the portions. The makers have not officially announced Shriya’s involvement in the film; however, it will mark the first time Shriya is working with Suriya. Santhosh Narayanan has scored the music for the film.
Previously speaking with OTTplay, Santhosh had said, “For me the reference for Suriya 44 is Alaipayuthey and that’s the vibe we want to get. It is a perfect blend of action and love.”
Suriya 44 marks the first time Karthik Subbaraj will be working with Suriya. The film is backed by the 2D Entertainment banner and has Pooja Hegde play the female lead.

Suriya is expected to play a gangster in the film. Others part of the cast include Jayaram, Karunakaran, and Joju George in pivotal roles. The technical crew consists of Shreyaas Krishna cranking the camers and Shafique Mohamed Ali handling the editing. Jacki heads the production design team.
The project had gone on floors in June this year. Recently, Suriya had met with a minor accident, during the filming of an action scene, in Ooty. As per the recent updates, Suriya, Karthik Subbaraj, and the team wrapped up the second schedule of the film, which was widely shot at the various locations of Ooty, Tamil Nadu, successfully.
