The new song of Swastika Mukherjee-starrer Shrimati was released on June 22. Sung by Lagnajita Chakraborty, the song is composed and penned by Soumya Rit. Directed by Arjunn Dutta, the film delves into the life of a homemaker and also features Soham Chakraborty, Kheya Chattopadhyay, Trina Saha, Barkha Bisht Sengupta and others. The film will be released in July.
The film delves into the life of homemaker Shrimati, aka Swastika, who tries to lose weight out of some social pressure. Trina Saha, who plays her sister-in-law, gives her a series of lectures on how to obtain a perfect figure. The song, 36-24-36, shows the makeover journey of Shrimati, aka Swastika.
While talking about the song, Lagnajita said, “I generally get to sing slow, mellifluous, romantic songs. This is the first time I'm singing something more of talking rather than singing. I have enjoyed the entire process and just hope that the audience enjoys it too when they listen to it. It was the first time I met Soumya Rit through this project. He has a lot of things to offer in the future. You just have to wait and watch!”
Soumya Rit said, “This was the first song written for Shrimati. Arjunn narrated the screenplay to me and it was written accordingly. Along with his screenplay, a new sound for me as well. I have been exploring myself slowly through my films doing a wide range of stuff. Shrimati is one such album where you get to hear three different kinds of songs.” Talking about the singer, he said that Lagnajita is a stunner. “Her voice has always been magical for the city. The video of the song has been shot beautifully. I'm very happy and I thank my team for such a beautiful endeavour. I'm very hopeful with this song and big thanks to Lagnajita for singing it so accurately, jovially, and energetically. I hope that people will like my lyrics.”
