In the previous episodes of Shrimad Ramayan, we see Jambavan (the King of Bears) enlightening Lord Hanuman about his magical powers. Hanuman learned that he is the son of Lord Vayu (also known as the God of Wind) and has the ability to fly in the sky despite belonging to the monkey kingdom. Hanuman, Jambavan, and others are on a mission to trace the exact location and rescue Goddess Sita from the demon Ravana.
In the latest promotional video of the television series shared by Sony TV and Sony LIV, Lord Hanuman can be seen flying across the Indian Ocean to find out where Goddess Sita was kept captive by Ravana in Lanka (present-day Sri Lanka). Hanuman’s journey over the ocean, however, was not an easy one. The video shows Hanuman ready to battle against the Queen of serpents, Surasa, while on his way to Lanka. Will Hanuman ji emerge victorious? Only time will tell.
According to the mythological epic Ramayana, Lord Hanuman kills the demon Surasa to protect Lanka where Goddess Sita was held captive. Furthermore, it is believed that Hanuman did not get tired or fatigued even for once while crossing the ocean from India to Lanka. Thus, this act shows Hanuman’s determination and willpower to safeguard Goddess Sita and repose faith in the teachings and blessings of Lord Rama.
It was on January 1, 2024, that Sony LIV debuted Shrimad Ramayan, for audiences in India. The series is produced by Siddharth Kumar Tewary through his production house, Swastik Productions, and is based on sage Valmiki’s Ramayana. Actor Sujay Reu plays the role of Lord Rama while actress Prachi Bansal stars as Goddess Sita. The story focuses on the life of Rama, who was born for Lord Vishnu’s seventh reincarnation. Furthermore, the series chronicles Rama's arduous journey to rescue his beloved wife, Sita, who is the incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi, from the clutches of the demon king Ravana.
