In her upcoming project, Naagin, Shraddha Kapoor has taken up the challenge of emulating the popular shapeshifting serpent character. The film, directed by Vishal Furia, will go on floors soon.
In a conversation with Mid-Day, the Chhorii director said that he was aiming to start the film’s shoot this summer, after the actress wraps up her other projects. He also revealed that the prep work for the film has already begun and it is currently in the pre-production stage.
He also opened about how Kapoor was keen on the project, and liked the theme and concept so much that she said yes to it after a single meeting with the makers. The actress and the filmmaker have already gone over the script and looks for it and are now planning to have more workshops for it as well. Furia said that since the character was a strange one, they needed to hit the ground running, when it comes to preparing for it. He also added that the actress is thoroughly enjoying this part of the process.
Naagin is a popular character in Indian myths, typically presented as a snake who can shapeshift into a human. The character has earlier been essayed by popular stars such as Reena Roy, Rekha and Sridevi as well. Furia said that although the character is based on the mythical character that has appeared in silver screen works earlier, they are giving it a different kind of treatment. He also revealed that the upcoming film will make extensive use of VFX and will be shot across multiple natural locations.
