Showtime Trailer - Emraan Hashmi excels as the true blue badshah of Bollywood in the Karan Johar produced show on nepotism!

Since the time Emraan Hashmi made his debut in Bollywood with the Ajay Devgn-starrer Footpath till now, there has been no looking back for the man. Be it solo hero films or multi starrer, Emraan has always held his fort and has shone bright! The just released trailer of Showtime is no different. Despite the towering presence of stalwarts like Vijay Raaz, Naseeruddin Shah, Rajeev Khandelwal and others, Emraan Hashmi simply steals the show and how!

The much-awaited trailer of Showtime which got released today, starts off with an encounter between Emraan Hashmi and Mouni Roy. This is followed by debates about nepotism and conversations about office collections of Rs. 100 crore! This is followed by the great grand entry of the cigarette smoking and walking stick yielding no-nonsense character of the veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah, who mouths an epic dialogue stating, “Cinema dhandha nahi, dharanm hai mera”(Cinema is not a business for me, it’s a religion).

Emraan Hashmi ‘in the picture’!

This, then, paves the entry of Rajeev Khandelwal’s character, who is extremely possessive and super confident about the fact that it’s his looks that sells more than the branded clothes! And with Emraan Hashmi ‘in the picture’, how can one liners be far behind! So, here it is…. “Nepotism ke mukhaute ke peeche, har outsider insider banna chaata hai”. (Nepotism is a quick fix excuse for every outsider to become an insider).

Giving him stiff competition in one-liners is none other than Vijay Raaz, who tries to redefine the term ‘outsider’. He says, “Jab tak cheenti haathi ke kaan mein ghuskar aatank nahi machaati, tab tak usko outsider hi kaha jaata hai”. (Till the time an ant creates havoc by sneaking inside an elephant’s ears, it will be treated as an outsider only). This is followed by the characters speaking about the dark side of Bollywood.

As for the stars, Mahima Makwana shows immense promise with her confident screen presence. Ditto for Mouni Roy. Even though its an Emraan Hashmi show(time) all through, one can surely expect some really big fireworks from the other cast like Vijay Raaz, Naseeruddin Shah, Rajeev Khandelwal as well. All in all, it is definitely seemingly one show that will be worth waiting for!

As for Showtime, it has its music composed by Anand Bhaskar and the dialogues penned by Jehan Handa and Karan Shrikant Sharma. The show, which has been directed by Mihir Desai and Archit Kumar, has been produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Somen Mishra and Mihir Desai. The show will be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar from March 8 onwards.
