Officially, the team of the upcoming film Ghost is yet to announce its release date. Director MG Srinivas has said it will be a Dasara presentation, but had not confirmed the exact date. However, today, social media was abuzz with speculation that the team has zeroed in on October 19 for the film’s date with audiences. This would mean that the Shivarajkumar-led action heist thriller will release a day ahead of the second instalment of Rakshit Shetty’s Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, which has been announced for October 20.

The Dasara list of films already includes Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo, Ravi Teja’s Tiger Nageshwara Rao and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Bhagavanth Kesari, all of which will also be in theatres between October 19 and 20. That’s quite the heavy-duty roster. Srinivas’ Ghost has had a good buzz going for it since the start and Shivarajkumar’s recent much-appreciated Jailer cameo has come as a good boost, what with audiences in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and AP/TS states praising the Century Star. Amid all these commercial entertainers, the intense love story Sapta Sagaradaache Ello is the odd one out, with Side B’s fate largely dependent on how Side A fares when it opens in theatres on September 1.

Ghost, which is a Sandesh Nagaraj production, was initially planned as a Kannada release only, with the team later adding Tamil and Telugu too. Malayalam and Hindi versions will depend on demand, said Srinivas. The film also stars Malayalam and Tamil actor Jayaram, who recently dubbed for his portions of the Kannada original as well. Bollywood actor Anupam Kher makes his Sandalwood debut with Ghost. The film is only the first of a two-part venture, with Srinivas set to marry his Birbal franchise with Ghost in a ‘universe’ with movies planned for the next 10-15 years.
