Filmmaker MG Srinivas has revealed precious little about the subject of his next directorial, Ghost, except for a simple line that it is an action-packed heist thriller. The film, produced by Sandesh Nagaraj, has Shivarajkumar in the lead, in a character that will have multiple shades, one of which, Big Daddy, was revealed recently for the Century Star’s birthday. Ghost brings Anupam Kher and Jayaram to the Kannada film industry, with the latter’s portions with Shivarajkumar supposedly among the best bits of the film, as per its dialogue writer, Prasanna VM.
Srinivas, who has begun promotions of the film, while also coordinating its post-production – the film has as many as 1,800 VFX shots - has been attending Twitter spaces organized by various Kannada film fandom handles. So far, he has told us that the film is going to be a two-part release and will be integrated with his Birbal films to create a Srini Cinematic Universe with a vision for the next 10-15 years. Initially, the actor-filmmaker said that the team was targeting a Kannada, Telugu and Tamil release only, with Hindi and Malayalam versions to be dubbed depending on the demand. The team has, however, now brought out the Hindi version of the Big Daddy teaser, so, it looks like the Dasara release plans will be a much larger.
The team has said that Shivarajkumar will dub for his role in Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. They had even tried to get him to do the Hindi dialogues for the Big Daddy teaser, but there were slight grammatical errors, so they had to use a dubbing artiste eventually. Speaking at another Twitter space, Srini recently said that Ghost is based on an actual incident that happened 6-7 years ago in Chennai, which has been adapted to suit our nativity. When he was pressed for details, though, he refrained from doing so, adding that the film will be a crowd-pleaser, especially for Shivarajkumar fans, with several whistle-worthy moments.
