Shivarajkumar: ‘I’ve been having some health issues since the last few months’

In April this year, Kannada star Shivarajkumar was hospitalized after complaining of uneasiness and in the time since, there have been rumours that all is not well with the actor’s health. In fact, at the press conference to announce the completion of his film 45 was recently held at his residence, as he was under the weather at the time as well. There’s been no official word on what’s going on with him, but there are rumours doing the rounds in industry circles.

On October 19, Shivarajkumar admitted that he’s been having health issues for the last few months and that he is in treatment for the same, although he did not disclose the ailment. According to sources close to the actor, he will head to the USA in early 2025 as part of the treatment protocol and undergo surgery as well.

Speaking to Republic Kannada, the actor said, “I’ve not been feeling well for the past 3-4 months; there are some issues and I am undergoing treatment. I am still active with my acting commitments, while the treatment continues side-by-side.” He added that the support of his family, friends and well-wishers gives him the energy to soldier on. The ill-health, though, has not messed with Shivarajkumar’s fitness routine or his diet. “I still go for my walks and there are no food restrictions, either,” he says.

Amid his physical struggle, Shivarajkumar is also prepping for the release of his next film, Bhairathi Ranagal, which is the prequel to his film Mufti and explores how he went from being a law-enforcing officer of the court (lawyer) to a feared (and revered) crime lord. The film, directed by Narthan, pairs Shivarajkumar with Rukmini Vasanth.

According to sources, barring the release promotions of Bhairathi Ranagal, the actor has suspended all public appearances and film work for the foreseeable future, until he is back from the US.
