At 61, Shivarajkumar is showing no signs of slowing down; in fact, namma Hattrick hero is busier than ever, with film commitments that will keep him for the next 3-4 years at least lined up. Shivanna, as the actor is fondly known as, is currently shooting for the sequel of his earlier film Mufti, called Bhairathi Ranagal, which is being directed by Narthan. He’s also working on the directorial debut of composer Arjun Janya, which is on a schedule break at the moment.
This year, Shivanna also made inroads in other industries, starting with a minor, but immensely impactful cameo in Superstar Rajinikanth’s Jailer, which released in theatres a week ago. The Century Star’s role has been widely lauded and garnered him a new set of fans in neighbouring states . This will be followed by a longer role in Dhanush’s upcoming film Captain Miller. And now we hear that Shivanna may be headed to Malayalam cinema as well. The actor was recently accosted by media at the airport and asked if he is indeed doing a film in Malayalam with Prithviraj Sukumaran. He responded in the affirmative, saying that the project is “on the move”. “I like Prithviraj a lot. I don’t know the name of the film, but it’s definitely happening,” he said.
Netizens have now begun speculating that Shivarajkumar’s collaboration with the Malayalam star is most likely for the film called Tyson, which Prithviraj is directing and acting in for Hombale Films. His other upcoming directorial is Empuraan, the Lucifer sequel, with Mohanlal in the lead. Considering that Shivarajkumar has just done Jailer in which Mohanlal also had a cameo, it seems unlikely that they will be in a film together so soon, so Tyson is what netizens think is the more likely project.
Meanwhile, in Kannada, Shivarajkumar will be next seen in MG Srinivas' Ghost, which also stars Jayaram and Anupam Kher. The action heist thriller is expected to be in theatres on October 19.
