Shiva Rajkumar shines in Jailer, 'super proud of you, Appa!' exclaims daughter Niveditha

The Jailer mania has been unleashed upon us as superstar Rajinikanth marks a thumping return to form. Having delivered a few underwhelming films in recent years(Petta, Annaatthe and Darbar), the 72-year-old actor evidently looked hungry for success and just as his fans hoped, everything finally aligned for him in the latest action entertainer. Alongside, Rajinikanth has also lent a new lease of life to writer-director Nelson who found himself in a spot of bother after Beast.

Jailer also benefitted from its extended ensemble cast which includes cameos from seasoned actors Shiva Rajkumar and Mohanlal. The former boasts a slightly more prominent role (as Narasimha) compared to the latter’s in terms of screen time and fans back home in Karnataka are unable to contain their excitement over this special ‘make a splash’ moment of his. To make things all the more special, Shivanna now has a new legion of fans in Tamil Nadu to his name now.

Among the many who are celebrating Shiva Rajkumar's presence in Jailer is the veteran actor's own daughter Niveditha Shiva Rajkumar, who writes an endearing social media post to express her pride. 

"Watching you perform alongside superstar @rajinikanth sir, owning every inch of the screen together, is a delightful experience to be cherished endlessly!! Super proud of you, Appa!" wrote Niveditha, echoing the sentiments of countless other Kannadigas.

Niveditha Shiva Rajkumar, representing the third generation of the Dr. Rajkumar clan, is etching a new path for herself in the Kannada Film Industry. Having begun her journey as a producer with three Kannada web series - namely, Honeymoon, By Mistake and Hate You Romeo - Niveditha is now looking to make a mark on the big screen with her first film production, Fire Fly. The film went on floors recently.

Record-breaking release for Rajinikanth

Jailer was always expected to yield great results in Tamil Nadu and the two Telugu states owing to Rajinikanth's popularity but the response in Karnataka, too, has been superb thus far. Of course, the fact that the Superstar grew up in Bengaluru and that he still regards the city as of his many homes is a huge contributor to this success. But, alongside, the distributors, too, have ensured that Shiva Rajkumar's involvement is leveraged properly.

Jayanna Combines serve as the distributors of Jailer in Karnataka and according to recent reports, more than 2500 shows (across languages) were allotted for the film on its opening day. This makes it the biggest release in the state for a Rajinikanth film.
