Shiv Shastri Balboa: Sharib Hashmi recalls a special memory with Mumbai dabbawalas

Actor Sharib Hashmi who was recently seen in the Sidharth Malhotra-starrer Mission Majnu, is all set for the release of his new film, Shiv Shastri Balboa. The cast and crew of the film that also stars Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta and Nargis Fakri, is on a promotion spree. On Monday, they released the new poster of the film which features the dabbawalas of Mumbai.

As a Mumbaikar, sharing his best memories of dabbawalas, Sharib said, "I have a very special connection with the dabbawalas. Back in 2002, I used to work with MTV and my lunch used to get delivered to our office from my house by dabbawalas. They really are the lifeline of Mumbai, especially for officegoers who get their tiffin delivered from home. They have been working for many years and I think it is only natural that we recognise and appreciate their hard work. Today, we are fortunate to sharethe new poster of our film and serve them (dabbawalas) a meal."

The actor is known for delivering fine performances in web series like The Family Man, Asur, A Viral Wedding, Scam 1992, The Great Indian Murder, and films like Ram Singh Charlie, Pagglait and Vikram Vedha in the recent past.

Sharib started his career with MTV, where he initially used to play multiple characters in the non-fiction show MTV Bakra. He also wrote scripts between 2000 and 2006 and has worked in the second season of MTV Roadies.

Shiv Shastri Balboa, which is set in the USA, is written and directed by Ajayan Venugopalan and produced by Kishore Varieth. It also stars Jugal Hansraj, Anil Joseph and Alison Corriere, among others, and is releasing in theatres on February 10.  

The first poster of the film was released by boxing champion Mary Kom last week.
