Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko took to his social media page recently to make an earnest appeal to Dulquer Salmaan to help release his film Adi, which is produced by the latter’s Wayfarer Films.
The Ahaana Krishna and Shine-starrer, which is directed by Prasobh Vijayan, had completed its shoot last year but is yet to release. Touted to be an entertainer, the film is scripted by Ratheesh Ravi and marked Wayfarer Films’ fifth production venture after Varane Avashyamundu, Maniyarayile Ashokan, Kurup and Upacharapoorvam Gunda Jayan.
Taking to his social media page, Shine addressed the post to Dulquer, writing that he had put hit entire heart into the making of the film and is waiting to see it in theatres. The actor also wrote that it has Ahaana and Dhruvan’s “finest performance” and well-written story by Ratheesh Ravi, who had previously scripted Shane Nigam’s Ishq.
Shine concluded the post by saying, “You know the pain of ignoring a bunch of talents, like the State Award committee ignored our Kurup.” The actor also posted a separate comment explaining that he trusts Dulquer to do the right thing.
Wayfarer Films’ previous production Salute, which had Dulquer in the lead, had released directly on Sony LIV. This had caused a controversy with the theatre exhibitors’ body saying that they wouldn’t permit further movies from the production houses to be released in theatres. The issue, however, was resolved after the producers had explained that the contractual obligations had forced them to release the movie on the streaming platform after its theatrical release was delayed due to the Omicron threat earlier this year.
Adi has Ahaana and Shine playing a newly-wed couple and revolves around the incidents that they face after the wedding. Meanwhile, Shine will next be seen in Kochaal, which is set to hit theatres on June 10.
