Vikram Chatterjee’s performance in Atanu Ghosh’s Sesh Pata has been appreciated by viewers and critics alike. The actor became a household name with his roles in the serials like Icche Nodi and Fagun Bou. But the actor has stayed away from television for the last four years. Instead, he frequently appears in Bengali movies. According to the actor, it was a conscious decision.

In an interview, Vikram said, “Television gave me immense love. The remuneration is also high. On the other hand, if I do three Bengali movies in a year, it is still a bit difficult to maintain a proper livelihood. But I know that I have to give my 200% if I do some work out of passion.”

However, fans keep on requesting Vikram to come back to the serial. Vikram said, “This love is perhaps due to my work in television for 10 years. I hope that, if I start a restaurant after working for 10 years in Bengali cinema, fans will keep on messaging me just like today. I am immensely grateful to the audience.”

Recently, the audience saw Vikram in Atanu Ghosh’s Shesh Pata. However, it is not like the actor nods to any offer. He said, “I know my capability as an actor. I hear that I have a bad reputation for not agreeing to every offer.” He said that he got this confidence from his acting days on television. “Until I realise that the character will help me in my career, I do not agree.”

Surely he gets constant offers from television? Vikram said, “I acted in three serials and all of them were hits. I am grateful to the makers. But that does not mean I get offers every day.” What are his thoughts about returning to television? Vikram smiled, “You have to give a minimum of one year’s date for a serial. Right now I am busy with a bunch of films. I cannot give time to serials before finishing them. I want to concentrate on what happens today. Let us see what happens tomorrow.”

Vikram is shooting for Paria, a film directed by Tathagata Mukherjee. Sohorer Ushnotomo Dine, directed by Aritra Sen, is due to be released. Vikram will also appear with Ditipriya Roy in a film directed by Aditya Sengupta.
