In times when OTT is still ruling the roost (point in case, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi), Shekhar Suman has announced that he will be back with his popular Television talk show, Movers n Shakers. The actor will be seen on the show for the third season. He has in fact hinted that this time around, it could release on OTT. Given how the shows are associated with the channel, there’s a high probability that it would be out on SonyLIV. Here’s all that we know so far…
Shekhar Suman became a known face on TV thanks to Dekh Bhai Dekh and Movers n Shakers. The actor, last seen in Heeramandi, has now confirmed that reviving both the show are a part of his plan. The actor told News18 Showsha that he is asked to bring back Movers n Shakers every time he’s at the airport and thus, there’s a lot of pressure.
He confirmed that at least Movers n Shakers are in talks. He has approached an OTT platform (most likely SonyLIV, since the channel has been associated with the show since the start). “I’ve to put the team together and get all the great writers. It will be very exciting,” he said.
In the mid-90s, Shekhar became popular because of Dekh Bhai Dekh and then came his talk show, Movers n Shakers which went on from 1997-2001. On the show, the actor interacted with many celebrities and mimicked a few, which had not gone down well after a point. One controversy was when Lalu Prasad Yadav got upset and Shatrughan Sinha had to call up Shekhar Suman to ask what exactly happened, so he could take care of the matter accordingly.
The show had a revival but that also aired only up to 2012. Now, 12 years later, it looks like the same chat show will have a new concept and platform, and of course, it will be set in the new times. Talking about why the second season ended, the actor said that it was a time when TV took a backseat and OTT was not yet there. Since he felt that Movers n Shakers had outgrown the TV era, the show went off-air.
Shekhar further said, “In fact, two of my iconic shows – Movers N Shakers and Dekh Bhai Dekh – are on the verge of being developed. It’s too early to talk about them because they’re both at a nascent stage. But it will and should happen.”
