Shekar trailer: 'Angry star' Rajashekar is back in a stylish, suave avatar as a retired cop

Actor Rajashekar is back in an angry cop avatar for his 91st film, Shekar, but there's a twist this time - he's a retired cop in this crime saga. The Telugu remake of the Malayalam film Joseph, Shekar, with screenplay and direction by Jeevitha Rajashekar, is set to hit theatres on May 20. Lakshmi Bhupala has penned the dialogues for the movie produced by Beeram Sudhakara Reddy, Shivani Rajashekar, Shivathmika Rajashekar, and Boggaram Venkata Srinivas under Pegasus Cinecorp, Taurus Cinecorp, Sudhakar Impex IPL, and Tripura Creations.

The trailer of the film was launched in Hyderabad today at AMB Cinemas, in presence of Major actor Adivi Sesh, director Pavan Sadineni, the cast and crew of Shekar. This time, Rajashekar has chosen his script to perfection and he looks quite apt to play the retired cop role, who still doesn't mind working on a case even if it isn't his job now. When a woman dies allegedly in an accident in a hill station, it takes Shekar to understand the murky truths beneath the incident.

Shekar is committed to find answers in the case, ready to go to any extent but he faces trouble soon. And he also has to come to terms with his past, when his daughter questions him about he parting ways with his wife. Where do these dots connect? We'll know soon. The entire trailer unfolds with a voice over by Sameer, who also plays a crucial role in the film. Athmiya Rajan and Muskaan Kubchandani (who plays Shekar's wife) also essay important roles while the supporting cast comprises Abhinav Gomatam, Kishore, Bharani, Ravi Varma and Shravan Raghavendra.

Sai Kumar has dubbed for Rajashekar in the film after a long gap. Anup Rubens has scored the music for Shekar. Presented by Vankayalapati Murali Krishna, the film's distribution rights have been acquired by Muthyala Ramdass of Venkata Sai Films. Mallikarjun Naragani and Sampath are the cinematographer and art director of the film respectively. Shekar's post-release OTT partner hasn't been finalised yet.
