Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan’s second production this year, Shefeekkinte Santosham, is gearing up for its OTT release. The movie, which has a completed a month since hitting theatres on November 25, marked TV anchor Anup Pandalam’s directorial debut and was in the news for the remuneration controversy involving Bala and Unni.
The film, which is a family entertainer, revolves around a Gulf returnee, Shefeek, whose Good Samaritan nature, doesn’t bode well for him. While returning from Dubai to Kerala for his engagement, Shefeek buys a gift for an ayurveda doctor, who had helped him out of a predicament. However, things take a turn for the worse when police arrive at his doorstep during his engagement, to question him regarding a smuggling case. The consequences this has on his relationships with his fiancée, friends and family form the plot of the movie.
Shefeekkinte Santosham marked Unni’s second production this year, after Meppadiyan. The latest movie once again had him essaying a rural character and the actor put forth his best to execute the emotional scenes of the movie convincingly.
Apart from Unni, the movie also has Bala, Manoj K Jayan, Athmiya Rajan and Divya Pillai. The team had already sold its satellite rights to Surya TV and now OTTPlay has learnt that the movie’s OTT rights have been snapped up by Amazon Prime Video.
Shefeekkinte Santosham is expected to drop on the streaming platform by the end of December or in January 2023. The makers are yet to officially announce the release date. Amazon Prime Video’s next Malayalam OTT release will be Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nayanthara-starrer Gold, which was helmed by Alphonse Puthren. The movie is set to begin streaming on the platform on December 29.
Meanwhile, Unni is set for his next theatrical release – Mallikapuram, which is helmed by Vishnu Sasi Shankar. The film will release in theatres on December 30 along with Soubin Shahir’s Djinn.
