Shazam! Is it a boon? Is it a curse? The question is back since the second trailer of Shazam! Fury of the Gods is unveiled. Zachary Levi, who famously plays the role of, you guessed it, Shazam!, is seen asking the Gods to strip him away of his powers. Which takes us back to the question, is having the superpowers like him a boon or a bane?
Shazam! Fury of the Gods releases just a few months since Dwayne Johnson made his debut as Black Adam. The upcoming film has various easter eggs about Black Adam’s entry into this franchise and their eventual merging. There’s a slight glimpse of the Kahndaq, where Black Adam’s statue was once built. Since Shazam and Black Adam actually were strong opponents according to the DC comics, this could be a major hint that their worlds will collaborate soon enough. The very obvious aspect to that is that the ever-so-jolly Shazam! has now taken the dark path, a path which Black Adam treads on every single day after his rebirth.
Of course, Djimon Hounsou playing Shazam in both the films is also one big hint about their collaboration. This time, the focus shifts slightly to his character as well since he passed on the powers to the next gen.
Apart from Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods also has a Game of Thrones reference. Actually, the whole trailer is filled with those references.
Ever since we enter their world, dragons become a part of the story. Not just them, there’s also the Khaleesi. Yep, the same title which was given to Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones.
This time, Shazam! actually literally fights dragons. In the trailer, he lands a punch on one of the dragons. He also dodges them. Both the scenes make for quite a spectacular watch.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods, like the name suggests, is about the battle between all the Shazam! and the ones who call themselves The Daughters of Atlas. For the unknown, Atlas is a DC superhero-antihero, much like Black Adam. He has often been associated with Superman, who has also made a cameo appearance in both Shazam! and Black Adam.
This time, Freddy (Adam Brody), Darla (Meagan Good), Mary (Michelle Borth), Eugene (Ross Butler) and Pedro (D.J. Cotrona) have also turned into Shazam! They come together to fight the Daughters of Atlas in theatres near you on March 17, 2023. The movie will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
