Shark Tank India is coming back with its third season and new sharks have entered the show. Among them is Azhar Iqubal, one of the masterminds behind InShorts. For the uninitiated, InShorts is a news service platform which provides you with an update in less than 60 words. However, the journey started with a Facebook page.

The journey

Azhar took help from his IIT (dropout) batchmates Anunay Arunav and Deepit Purkayastha to start a Facebook page. They operated the page, which was unique in the sense that one could write stories only for 60 words or less. The page itself was called News In Shorts. It was then collaborated into an app which has an estimated value of Rs. 3700 crores.

About Azhar’s professional achievements

While Azhar’s biggest professional achievement is InShorts, the 30-year-old from Bihar also commenced a company named Public. Started in 2019, it is a location-based social media network which helps in creating trending videos. Azhar has also been featured on Business World 40 under 40, Fortune India 40 under 40, Forbes India 30 under 30 and Forbes Asia 30 under 30.

The Sharks

Apart from Azhar, OYO Rooms founder Ritesh Agarwal has also joined the show as a shark. He and Azhar are the latest sharks. The other sharks, including Aman Gupta, Namita Thapar, Vineeta Singh, Anupam Mittal and Peyush Bansal are a part of the show once again. This season too, Ashneer Grover does not return as a shark. However, the expectations are always high from the SonyLIV release and many are hoping to find some new gems this season as well.
