Shark Tank India is one of the most talked about shows, of late. Even though season one of the show ended recently, it continues to make headlines. One of the controversial figures on the show was Ashneer Grover , co-founder of BharatPe, who is known for his blunt responses. He is often tagged as 'rude'. His dialogues on the show became a subject of several memes as well.
It was recently revealed that the show's director wanted to edit out the controversial comments by the shark but Ashneer didn't care about it. In an interaction with Rohan Joshi and Sahil Shah, Ashneer admitted that he is a little rough around the edges and that the director of the reality show had offered to even censor some of his controversial comments.
The shark said, "Jo director tha woh mereko bhejte rehta tha, ke sir aap dekh lo ek baari. Maine dekha hi nahi. Toh jab main set pe bhi gaya na, mereko pata hi nahi tha ke kya karna hai. Mereko tha ke jaise ghar pe behave karte hain waise hi kar lenge. Aur apna paisa lag raha hai, toh thoko jaake." He further said when the director asked him if he wants to edit any of the statements, he told him that he doesn't have any more time to spend, sitting in the editing room with him, after more than 12 hours of the shoot. He said in Hindi that he will handle the situation in case of a backlash.
He said that there are disadvantages to being this straightforward with people. He is now forced to get up in the middle of the night, around 3 am, to delete mean messages, comments and trolls.
Ashneer was one of the judges on the show where he listened to pitches and invested in startups, along with Anupam Mittal, Namita Thapar, Ghazal Alagh, Aman Gupta, Peyush Bansal and Vineeta Singh. Shark Tank India is adapted from the US show Shark Tank. It was hosted by Rannvijay Singha.
