Shark Tank India provided a space for both seasoned and budding entrepreneurs in the country to showcase their business ideas. The contestants also got a chance to avail the expertise of some of the country’s most popular business minds in the form of expert advice and investment opportunities from the sharks. Shaadi.com founder and CEO, Anupam Mittal was one among them.

In a conversation with Raj Shamani, the businessman talked about what he thinks it takes for someone to become an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurship was a lifetime commitment and something one must think through before getting into it. Mittal said that he didn’t think age was a problem when it came to starting a business, citing the example of McDonalds’ founder who started the chain in his 50s. However, despite the age of starting, one should have clarity about one’s venture.

Before starting a business, you should ask yourself if you have an entrepreneurial mindset, said Mittal. Proactiveness and a zeal to challenge the status quo are some essentials, every businessman should have. Questions about the ‘why’ behind the way things are done are also something entrepreneurs should think about a lot.

Mittal also shared that he always treated every company he worked for as his own, even before he started Shaadi.com. He talked about how he had no hesitation in even cleaning the bathrooms of the companies he worked for at times, something he continues to do even at his present office.

Then comes the question as to what do you want to do through your business as entrepreneurship is something you should work towards and you must have a passion to achieve that. All these things together are essential for anyone looking to make it as an entrepreneur, he said.

Shark Tank India is available to stream on SonyLIV.
