As Shark Tank India fans would know, there are instances where things in the tank can get heated when sharks compete for investments. Anupam Mittal and Ashneer Grover were involved in one such fervent instance, and the former opened up about how the exchange hurt him.

In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan recently, Mittal, who is the founder and CEO of Shaadi.com, opened up about the incident on the show. When Mittal and Grover went head to head to try and convince a contestant to pick their investment offer, Grover remarked about how, unlike the former who only has one brand to his name, the latter had built two popular brands. Grover is the founder of BharatPe and PostPe, and had been a big part of Grofers as well.

Mittal said that his ego had been hurt by the comments, also adding that he took care while reacting to such exchanges. He said that instead of being reactionary, people needed to analyse their emotions and reactions, figuring out if their reactions are being motivated by ego, intellect, emotion or conditioning, calling them all very different things. Mittal also gave his insights on the differences between brand building and advertising. He said that anyone can spend money on advertising, but to build a brand and make it well known among the general public was indeed a daunting task and worthy achievement. He also added that a person could be put down only if they gave other people permission to do so, which Mittal said he would never do.

Shark Tank India is available to stream on SonyLIV.
